Maud Lewis Gallery
One of the greatest inspirations about how we can overcome physical limitations to be creative is artist Maud Lewis. Maud is one of Canada’s premier folk artists, painting scenes of animals and outdoor scenes in bright colours. Maud lived with most of her life challenged by poverty, lack of space, and physical mobility, but she was a great problem solver.
You can explore Maud’s artwork and even her home inside the gallery of Nova Scotia in a virtual tour: here.
Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum
Louvre Abu Dhabi is a new museum focusing on the stories of human creativity that unite us. The items in the collection are from different cultures and point to our common stories of humanity.
In this week’s art prompt, we have been exploring our own collections and how we can tell stories about objects. We love how you can explore some of the objects in this museum’s collection in different ways too. You can find visual stories in the form of videos with captions in English, French and Arabic, audio descriptions of the item’s history, and activities like colouring pages that will help you learn more about this collection.
Click on the “Art from Home: Stories of Cultural Connections” link or click here, to explore the collection and take time to check out the stories behind the building itself.
